Where to begin.

If you just landed on this site, you probably have one of three questions. This page answers all three, in about two minutes, and then points you at the one thing to read next.

1. What is this?

The Microdose Movement is an educational community built around the practice of microdosing psilocybin — sub-perceptual doses of psilocybin mushrooms taken on a structured schedule, usually for mental health, creative, or personal-growth reasons. We are not a clinic. We are not a product line. We are a public library and community, organized around six content pillars and seven personality archetypes, with the goal of helping people walk this path with more clarity and less noise than the broader internet currently offers.

The practice itself is older than any of us. Indigenous and ceremonial use of psilocybin mushrooms goes back thousands of years in Mesoamerica and likely longer elsewhere. What's new is the modern framing — sub-perceptual dosing, structured protocols, and the integration of this medicine into ordinary daily life for ordinary reasons. That modern framing is what we cover. The ancient lineage is what we remember.

2. Is this for me?

Probably, if any of these sound like you: you have been reading about this for a while and are not sure what to do with what you've read; you are tired of the wellness-influencer version of the conversation and want something more honest; you are a skeptic who wants the science without the smoke; you are a long-time practitioner who wants community that isn't a subreddit or a Telegram channel; or you are in a hard season of your life and have started wondering whether this might be one of the things that helps.

Probably not, if: you are looking for a quick fix with no work involved; you are in an acute mental health crisis and need immediate support (please call a crisis line or see a clinician first — we are not that); you are looking for a product you can buy on this site (we do not sell anything); or you are looking for a culture that promises certainty in exchange for belief. We don't promise certainty. We promise to be honest about what we know and what we don't.

Take the 2-Minute Quiz →

The quiz is the fastest way to figure out which of the seven archetypes fits where you are right now. The result points you at the pillar most relevant to your situation. It takes about two minutes and nothing is sent anywhere unless you ask us to follow up.

3. Where do I start reading?

The honest answer is: it depends on what kind of reader you are. Here's how we think about it.

  1. If you want the fastest overview

Start with The 20 Questions We Get Most Often. It's a plain-language FAQ that covers the basics in about ten minutes.

  2. If you want the science first

Start with The Science pillar. Our most-read pieces there are on the Default Mode Network, neuroplasticity, and the Imperial College research body.

  3. If you want the practice first

Start with The Practice pillar. There are seven archetype-specific guides; the one that fits you is the one the quiz sends you to. If you want to skip the quiz, the broad-spectrum starting guide is Wandering Spore.

  4. If you want to know where this comes from

Start with The Root pillar. The most important pieces are Maria Sabina and the Sacred Children of the Mountain, Seeking the Magic Mushroom (the 1957 article), and Indigenous Wisdom and the Modern Practice. Read these before you read anything else if the lineage question matters to you at all.

  5. If you want to know what other people's experience is actually like

Start with Member Stories. These are first-person accounts and composites, told honestly, not polished into marketing. This is the one that most people say changed their mind about whether this practice was for them.

  6. If you're a skeptic and want to know what we refuse to do

Start with What We Reject. Five short pieces on the things this Movement actively stands against. Read it if you want to understand our position by reading what we refuse to cosign.

  7. If you want the current news and commentary

Start with The Mycelium pillar. News, culture, opinion, and the state of the field as of right now.

Before you do anything

Three things worth knowing before you take a dose of anything for the first time.

  1. Psilocybin is federally illegal in the United States and most countries. We do not sell it, ship it, or help you find it. Our content is strictly educational. Check your local law. Make informed choices.
  2. This practice is not a replacement for professional care. If you are on an SSRI, an MAOI, lithium, or most other psychiatric medications, do not start microdosing without talking to a clinician who understands the interaction. If you have a personal or family history of psychosis, bipolar disorder, or schizophrenia, this practice carries elevated risk and should be discussed with a clinician before you proceed.
  3. Set, setting, and integration are not optional. The molecule is a tool. The work around the molecule is the practice. If you try to shortcut the preparation and integration, you are not doing what we are writing about — you are doing something else with some of the same ingredients.

If all of that lands and you want to go further, the quiz is your next step.
